Many fledgling business in Fife are being given crucial support by Business Gateway in Fife
Making connections
Phase 3 UK Ltd, Glenrothes, which designs and manufactures specialist electrical connectors suitable for use in harsh and outdoor situations, from T in the Park to military operations, has customers across Europe.
Thanks to recent help from Business Gateway, the six year old company has now expanded its market by launching a new product at the Pro Light and Sound exhibition in Frankfurt in March this year.
“The exhibition was incredibly successful and allowed us to meet customers and potential clients from all around the world in a way we could never have achieved ourselves,” said Louise Cameron, wife of the company founder, John. “We got funding towards attending the exhibition in Frankfurt as well as support for new machinery which have both helped to expand our business,” said Louise.
Broad perspectives
Young entrepreneur, Steven Mitchell of Puddledub Buffalo in Auchtertool was
offered support from Business Gateway to develop a business plan and access grants for machinery.
Steven was impressed by Business Gateway’s good commercial understanding of his livestock-based business, and the wealth of information and support available.
Steven said, “I found my Business Advisor very approachable and quick to help.
He didn’t have a “one size fi ts all” attitude, so he appreciated that my business model is based around livestock and that made discussing my plans with him much easier.”
Building blocks
Even fledgling companies like The Kingsbarns Company of Distillers Ltd, which plans to open a distillery on the Cambo Estate, find Business Gateway
a valuable source of information.
Business Gateway helped source funding to assist with architect fees, site investigations and surveys.
Doug Clement said, “I didn’t initially realise that I could get help at this stage but the funding and help with my website have been really valuable. It’s also good to know I have advice and encouragement on hand as I get things
up and running.”
