Record results for Business Gateway Fife

Support for businesses has created 1400 new jobs and £50 million additional turnover in Fife since April 2009.

The outlook for businesses in Fife is positive, according to Business Gateway Fife, which announced that during its last fi nancial year it has smashed through its targets to create 1400 new jobs, help a record number of new businesses start up and bring nearly £50 million of extra turnover into the Kingdom.

In its July update Business Gateway stated that it helped 777 new businesses start up, creating more than 1100 new jobs with an annual turnover of £30.89 million and supported 94 existing companies with £369,000 fi nancial support, creating another 391 jobs and leading to an additional £18.4 million of additional turnover between April 2009 and March 2010.

Jim Driver, Director of Business Gateway in Fife says, “We are obviously delighted with these results and the impact they have on the Fife economy.

“It’s interesting that despite recent comments on the lack of entrepreneurship in Scotland, we are actually seeing more people than ever come to business start up events and seminars and also sign up for our programme of business development skills like selling, marketing, e-commerce and fi nancial planning.

“Our formula is to provide an all round support package for entrepreneurs from the early stages of starting up right through to their business expansion plans and international trading.”
