Fife’s SMEs will have new skills made available to them by an innovative project
involving eight of Scotland’s leading educational establishments.
The 2kt project aims to make some of the expertise in the educational sector readily available to support small and medium sizes enterprises - with Fife at the forefront of the initiative represented by Elmwood and Carnegie Colleges.
2kt has appointed a number of business development executives whose specific role is to liaise between the colleges and SMEs within the local economy.
Where a college cannot deliver the skills or knowledge being requested by the local business the partnership enables the request to then be circulated to the other educational organisations, thereby increasing the likelihood of a successful outcome.
Each college within 2kt is nominated to take the lead in a particular sector with
Cupar’s Elmwood College nominated for rural tourism and food & drink sectors and Carnegie the lead in engineering.
Ken Rutherford, Elmwood’s Director of External Relationships said, “Now, more than ever, colleges have an important role to play in supporting the future of Scottish business and if we don’t possess the skills we’ll pass the request on to one of our partners.”
2kt is supported by Fife Council and Business Gateway.
